Iām so excited to launch something a little differentāand a lot of fun! Over the coming weeks, Iāll be introducing you to wines from all around the world. Whether you’re a seasoned sipper or just curious about what lies beyond your usual glass, this will be a relaxed, welcoming space to discover new favorites.
Each post will spotlight a wine from a different regionāthink Argentinaās bold Malbecs, South Africaās crisp Chenin Blancs, or the delicate reds of the Loire Valley. But we wonāt stop at just tasting. Iāll guide you through how to experience the wine on its own and how it transforms when paired with food.

To keep it light and approachable, Iāll include a few fun pairing ideas with every wineāsome simple, some unexpected, all designed to help you see just how playful and delicious wine can be. From cheeses and snacks to full meals and sweet bites, thereāll be something for everyone.
My goal? To make wine feel more like an adventure and less like a test. No fancy terms requiredājust curiosity, your taste buds, and maybe a few friends to share the fun.
Stay tuned for the first glass. š· Letās travel the world, one sip at a time!
š· 5 Simple Steps to Tasting Wine Like a Pro
1. See š
Hold your glass up to the light or against a white background. Take a good look at the wineās color, clarity, and viscosity (how it moves in the glass). A wineās appearance can give clues about its age, grape variety, and even body.
2. Swirl š·
Gently swirl your glass in a circular motion. This helps oxygen mix with the wine and releases its aromas. It also gives you a better sense of the wineās texture and alcohol level (watch those “legs” running down the side of the glass).
3. Sniff š
Now lean in and take a few short sniffs. What do you notice? Fruit, flowers, spice, earth? Your nose can detect hundreds of aromas in wineāthis is where a lot of the magic happens.
4. Sip š
Take a small sip and let it move across your tongue. Pay attention to taste, texture, and structure. Notice the acidity (mouthwatering or flat?), tannins (smooth or grippy?), body (light or full?), andāof courseāthe flavors.
5. Savor š§
After swallowing (or spitting, if you’re tasting many wines), take a moment to reflect. How long do the flavors linger? Did anything surprise you? How did everything come togetherāthe balance, finish, and overall impression?
Let’s begin our journey
I have been conducting wine tastings for years, including in retail stores. Often, when I offer samples of the wine I am promoting, customers tell me they only drink their favorite wine. Honestly, that drives me nuts! There are so many exceptional wines from around the world that deserve to be enjoyed.
This is a great opportunity to explore wines from various regions with some guidance. Each post will feature a different wine along with a food pairing that complements it.
