šŸŒ Sip the World: A Global Wine Journey Begins šŸ·

I’m so excited to launch something a little different—and a lot of fun! Over the coming weeks, I’ll be introducing you to wines from all around the world. Whether you’re a seasoned sipper or just curious about what lies beyond your usual glass, this will be a relaxed, welcoming space to discover new favorites.

Each post will spotlight a wine from a different region—think Argentina’s bold Malbecs, South Africa’s crisp Chenin Blancs, or the delicate reds of the Loire Valley. But we won’t stop at just tasting. I’ll guide you through how to experience the wine on its own and how it transforms when paired with food.

To keep it light and approachable, I’ll include a few fun pairing ideas with every wine—some simple, some unexpected, all designed to help you see just how playful and delicious wine can be. From cheeses and snacks to full meals and sweet bites, there’ll be something for everyone.

My goal? To make wine feel more like an adventure and less like a test. No fancy terms required—just curiosity, your taste buds, and maybe a few friends to share the fun.

Stay tuned for the first glass. šŸ· Let’s travel the world, one sip at a time!

šŸ· 5 Simple Steps to Tasting Wine Like a Pro

1. See šŸ‘€
Hold your glass up to the light or against a white background. Take a good look at the wine’s color, clarity, and viscosity (how it moves in the glass). A wine’s appearance can give clues about its age, grape variety, and even body.

2. Swirl šŸ·
Gently swirl your glass in a circular motion. This helps oxygen mix with the wine and releases its aromas. It also gives you a better sense of the wine’s texture and alcohol level (watch those “legs” running down the side of the glass).

3. Sniff šŸ‘ƒ
Now lean in and take a few short sniffs. What do you notice? Fruit, flowers, spice, earth? Your nose can detect hundreds of aromas in wine—this is where a lot of the magic happens.

4. Sip šŸ‘…
Take a small sip and let it move across your tongue. Pay attention to taste, texture, and structure. Notice the acidity (mouthwatering or flat?), tannins (smooth or grippy?), body (light or full?), and—of course—the flavors.

5. Savor 🧠
After swallowing (or spitting, if you’re tasting many wines), take a moment to reflect. How long do the flavors linger? Did anything surprise you? How did everything come together—the balance, finish, and overall impression?

Let’s begin our journey

I have been conducting wine tastings for years, including in retail stores. Often, when I offer samples of the wine I am promoting, customers tell me they only drink their favorite wine. Honestly, that drives me nuts! There are so many exceptional wines from around the world that deserve to be enjoyed.

This is a great opportunity to explore wines from various regions with some guidance. Each post will feature a different wine along with a food pairing that complements it. Tasting wines with food provides a fun way to discover and appreciate each wine more fully. Let’s begin our journey, click below.
